Recently we received the report from Synod during the sermon section of the two services, and the speakers challenged us to think of our priorities for 2012. I would like to hear from you what you believe should be our priorities for 2012?
Should we devote more of our time and talents to improving our Youth Ministry?
Should we engage our First Nations brothers and sisters in an ongoing dialogue and determine where we can help?
What will it mean to sponsor a refugee family?
How do we ensure our 10am service will continue to be one with vibrant music and joyful singing?
Let's hear your thoughts.
Thanks for getting the conversation started, Tony! This is my first ever time "blogging". I'm very interested in continuing building relationships with our First Nations neighbours and in supporting the Truth & Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC) Hearings and Regional Gathering which will provide an opportunity for those directly impacted by Indian residential schools, like those in Alert Bay, Port Alberni, and Kuper Island, to share their personal story as part of their healing. The Hearings will be head on March 12 - 13 in Port Alberni and in Cowichan- Duncion on Mar 15 & 16 and the Regional Gathering will be in Victoria on April 13 & 14, 2012. Interested in attending? We can forward names of delegates from our church up to March 5th.
ReplyDeleteI am praying about how St. Philip's can continue to reach out to build relationships with the members of the Nanoose First Nation and I am looking forward to visiting there tomorrow to take our condolences book and an invitation to attend the Shrove Tuesday Pancack supper on February 21st.
